Party Party Party

Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans is the perfect place for a party.  This year we’ve loved watching guests take over the whole site to celebrate landmark birthdays – we’ve had Helen’s 30th last month, Keavy’s 40th summer bash, Richard’s 40th ‘lost weekend’ (anyone seen Pid?) and twins Wendy & Lindsey’s family celebrations for their joint 50ths.  We’ve had a marriage proposal in Monty (and reader, it was a ‘yes’), honeymooners in Sybil and a steady stream of hen parties popping prosecco corks and glamping the weekend away.  Then there were vintage enthusiasts Amy & Tom who arrived in Audrey, their beloved Morris Minor, and spent a week in Elsie living a 1950s lifestyle complete with stunning retro outfits and hairdos. In Amy we have found our Mad Dogs 50s pinup (by the way hens take note, you can hire the services of Amy and there’s nothing she can’t do with pins and a curling wand).

For hen parties and group bookings, we offer a three-course ‘wild dining’ extravaganza.  A selection of canapes & dips are served on the terrace of the Old Rectory before guests immerse themselves in our candlelit Mess Tent for a night of feasting and merriment.  Seated around our handcrafted banquet table with the woodburning stove crackling this is your own hidden restaurant in an unforgettable setting.  All our food is homemade using seasonal ingredients from the kitchen garden.  Main course options include a zingy Thai green curry, slow-cooked pork in cider with shallots & roasted apples and roast chicken Ottolenghi style with saffron, hazelnuts and rose water.   Our signature dessert, which never fails to garner rave reviews, is a sparkle-tastic pavlova topped with summer berries.  All group bookings also receive a complimentary cream tea party served on pretty vintage crockery.

By day parties have the option of picking from a number of exciting outdoor adventure activities including canoeing down the River Wye, mountain biking in the nearby Forest of Dean, gorge walking (think scrambling up ravines and jumping off waterfalls) or swinging through the tree canopy on a high ropes course.   For those not wanting to venture too far afield there are great walks right on our doorstep ‘ amble along the river bank into the picturesque market town of Ross on Wye or order a surprise picnic which we’ll set up in a stunning secluded riverside spot.  For anyone who fancies a game of tennis there’s a court on site or indulge yourself in one of our Glamp n Pamp holistic treatments from within our beautiful lotus bell tent.  Choose from hot stone and Swedish massages, nurturing reflexology therapy, detox facials or go the whole hog and book ‘The Full Monty’ ‘a 1hr 45 minute luxury pamperathon ‘ all accompanied to nature’s soundtrack of birdsong and gentle breeze.

By night kick back and enjoy the simple pleasures of gathering round the campfire with great friends and watching the sun set over the Black Mountains.  Whatever your dream weekend entails Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans provides a magical setting.  We are now taking group bookings for May, June and July 2018 so get in touch.

Finally, the leaves are starting to change colour signifying Autumn in the Wye Valley is underway.  It’s a fab time to embrace the Great Outdoors in all its stunning glory – build fires, roast chestnuts, wrap up under cosy blankets and do a spot of stargazing.  The vans stay open till the end of October with good availability for the next few weeks and limited space over half term week.

Look forward to seeing you soon.
