2018 was a bumper year for glamping with endless weeks of unbroken sunshine and heat. For the first time ever we had to request no fires outside the caravans – just for a few weeks mind but it felt every inch the Mediterranean. Scorchio! The vans are now wrapped up in their winter coats to protect them from the elements whilst we turn our minds to our 2019 season. We are already taking whole site bookings for the precious spring and summer weekends so if you are thinking about celebrating with us we would advise you get in touch sooner rather than later. We have just one weekend left in May and limited availability during the May half term.
Mad Dogs parties just got bigger
Mad Dogs & Vintage Vans is perfect for celebrations, be they birthdays, family get-togethers, friends’ reunions or hen parties. We can cater for up to 20 people on site but if you feel like spreading out or your numbers come to more than 20 then we can also offer you The Hayloft, a stunning barn renovation recently completed and located just next door to the Glampsite. The Hayloft sleeps 6 and mixes the original wood timbers with contemporary design. Accommodation is by way of 2 double bedrooms and a twin with two bathrooms and a walled garden. As well as offering extra accommodation, The Hayloft could be a useful ‘backstop’ if your party includes guests who prefer bricks and mortar to glamping out under the stars. The Wye Valley is made for adventure
When it comes to planning what to do during your stay, we are so lucky to have a wealth of activities on our doorstep. Canoeing the River Wye tops the list and this year saw a new watery adventure in the form of Stand Up Paddleboarding – a really fun way to spend a few hours. Cycling in the Forest of Dean remains super popular. Bikes can be hired and you have a choice of easy family trails through to more challenging red and black runs. If you’ve got a head for heights then you’ll also find high ropes activities over in the Forest of Dean. Back on site, there’s a tennis court so if you fancy brushing up on your backhand and cross court volleys we can arrange one to one or group sessions with a coach.

Gin is In
If this all sounds too exhausting and you just want to kick back and do little more than raise a glass then new for 2019 we are excited to be able to offer Gin Tasting Masterclasses. You can’t fail to have noticed that Gin is In. Big Time. Your guide is the artisan gin-ius (oh yes) behind Foxtail Gin who will arrive at Mad Dogs Glamping armed with a basket of hand produced botanicals. You’ll learn about how gin is made, sample different flavours from a large menu of over 40 gins and then best of all, pick your favourite botanicals to blend your own custom gin. We can’t think of a better way to remember a Mad Dogs weekend than with your own bottle of Herefordshire gin… that’s providing you can remember the weekend.

Wild Dining & Secret Picnics
No glamping weekend would be complete without food, lots of it, and for this reason, we are delighted to be able to offer everything from one pot dinners through to 3 courses wild dining in our candlelit Mess Tent. Sunday brunches and hand-packed secret picnics are all on the menu too. All our dishes are made to order using fresh ingredients and veg and herbs from our garden where possible. Glamp n Pamp
And if you are glamping with us please can we recommend you take advantage of our Glamp n Pamp service. After a day canoeing down the river or recovering from one too many gins the night before you’ll need the healing hands of our holistic therapist Felicity. Choose from a menu of indulgent and relaxing therapies ranging from Swedish and hot stone massages through to detoxifying facials, foot scrubs and calming reflexology treatments. A treatment makes a great gift for the birthday girl or bride to be.
